then and only then will you be contacted by myself to confirm your seat availability, sorry guys no cash on the night.
Some of you produced a fourball voucher at the Forrest Cup for the dinner raffle however could those that didn't manage try and get them to Sam Bolton in the next couple of weeks please, when asking your club for said 4 ball could you also ask that they might make it for next year's playing season as sometimes Club Secretary's just make it available for the next 6 months which taking it into consideration that is generally over the winter.
Here is to a great evening.
Thanks must go to Adam Skinner (Dougalston’s Convener) and Sam Bolton for getting Nuffield Health to agree to staging this year’s final.
Sunday dawned dry bright and hopefully going to remain that way as the amount of rain that had fallen on Thursday and again on Friday had made it look doubtful.
With an early 9.30am tee off it was down to business quite quickly, with conditions being quite wet underfoot it was explained to both teams that the “local rules” of the club permitted at all times that a plugged ball anywhere on the course could be marked, lifted, cleaned and dropped as close as possible to where it had been, with also casual water expected it was down to the players to confer with their opponents and sort it out.
Down to the 1st tee which this year was being played off the Medal tees and not the Tiger tees it was decided after the first 4 ball had played to seek some spotters from both sides to go further down the fairway and assist in spotting, this helping to get things away to a smooth start.
The next time I made contact was at the 8th where all the matches were nip and tuck bar 1 which Bishopbriggs were 4 up in, I then moved on to 13th tee where it was still quite tight apart from the match that I had mentioned earlier, it finished with a 6 & 4 win to Bishopbriggs.
Dumbarton won the 1st match 4 & 3 then lost the next 2 games 6 & 4 and 4 & 3, advantage Bishopbriggs, game 4 went Dumbarton’s way with a 2 & 1 win, game all square with both Convener’s nerves beginning to show.
Game 5 had Dumbarton standing on the 18th tee with a 1 hole advantage but the word from behind had the reserve match going Bishopbriggs’s way, game on and by now all the spectators were round the 18th green, after some tooing and frowing it came down that both Dumbarton’s players carded 4’s and 1 Bishopbriggs player had a 3 – 4 foot putt to square their match with the reserve match now at greenside also with a win for Bishopbriggs.
The tension was really high with Bishopbriggs Convener Craig McNeill down on his knees with his head buried in the ground unable to watch, the Bishopbriggs player made a great stroke on the putt to watch it just slide by missing the hole by fractions.
You would have thought Dumbarton had just won the Ryder Cup but that was the way it felt for them, this being the very 1st time that their name will appear on the Trophy since the Competition started in 1970.
I must thank every one who appeared along on the day to support their respective teams and what I witnessed was golf played at a great level from both teams but also great sportsmanship and banter all the way round the course.
Congratulations to Dumbarton and commiserations to Bishopbriggs.

To send in your results if you could use e-mail :- firstname.lastname@example.org
it would be greatly appreciated.
